TentCheck

Privacy

TentCheck keeps your tent layouts, kit list and settings in your own browser (its local storage), so they're there when you come back. They aren't sent anywhere unless you share one.

When you press Share, TentCheck stores that kit or layout on Cloudflare under a random short address, such as tentcheck.com/k/7Hc2xQp, so the link works for whoever you send it to. It stores what the link shows (the gear, sizes, settings and the name you gave it, and for a list imported from LighterPack, each item's category, note and web link) and when it was made or changed. It doesn't store an account, an email address or your IP address with it.

Shared links aren't listed on the site, and they ask search engines not to index them, but anyone with a link can open it. Don't put anything private in a name or a note, and check an imported list's notes before you share it.

Your browser keeps a key for each link you share, which lets you change or delete it. A deleted link stops working straight away. If you clear your browser's storage, the key goes with it.

If you'd rather store nothing, "Copy a link that stores nothing" puts the whole kit or layout in the link itself, as does a comparison's link.

The site has no accounts and sets no cookies. Everything it shows, its fonts included, comes from the site itself. The site is served by Cloudflare, which keeps standard request logs.

Cloudflare also counts visits for TentCheck (Cloudflare Web Analytics), with a small script it adds to each page from static.cloudflareinsights.com. It notes the page, the site that linked to it, your browser, operating system, device type and country, and how quickly the page loaded. It sets no cookie, stores nothing in your browser and doesn't try to recognize you on a later visit or on other sites, and Cloudflare discards your IP address rather than storing it. If a content blocker stops the script, the site works the same.

When a shared link's page or picture fails, TentCheck keeps a note of the error for seven days so it can be fixed: the address and what went wrong, nothing about who asked.

If TentCheck collects anything more, this page will say so first.
